Caprese Steak Salad

Gluten-free, paleo, kid-friendly, quick and easy

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

6 oz New York Strip steak

2 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp garlic powder

1 Heirlooom (if in season, or other) tomato

1/2 tbsp olive oil

4 tbsp fresh basil

2 oz fresh mozzarella

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Directions

  1. Preheat skillet on medium-high heat. Rub both sides of steak with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  2. When skillet is hot, add steak and cook 4 minutes without disturbing. Flip, and cook another 3 to 4 minutes, or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and let rest 2 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, slice tomatoes into rounds. Slice mozzarella into rounds. Pick basil leaves from stems. Layer on a plate.
  4. Top salad with steak and enjoy.
